Vintage Star Wars die cast toys

As Kenner repeatedly told us the Imperial Cruiser was the 'Empire's largest Space Craft' and it made a very detailed die cast toy - the smallest in scale of all the die cast ships.

Original photo art used with permission of Kim D M Simmons / the man who shot Luke Skywalker

The Imperial Cruiser was also the only way to own a Blockade Runner in the 1970s and 80s. The only action feature was a sliding hangar door with a replica of Princess Leia's spaceship - the Tantive IV.

The Imperial Cruiser was released in the SW7 boxes in the US, Canada and the UK and also released in the Special Offer Box and ESB7 box in the US - coinciding with a name change to Star Destroyer
